अशी अंधश्रद्धा आहे की मेलेल्या व्यक्तीला पुढील मार्ग दिसावा म्हणून दिवा लावतात व त्या दिव्याखाली राख किंवा पीठ पसरून ठेवतात कारण त्या दिव्याखालील पिठावर किंवा राखेवर , गेलेल्या माणसाला कोणता जन्म मिळाला त्याची पावलं उमटतात असा सर्वदूर समज आहे पण हा समज पूर्णतः चुकीचा आहे.लगेच त्याला दुसरा जन्म मिळत नाही त्याचि प्रक्रिया आहे ती आपण पुढे पहाणार आहोत.
आता हा जो दिवा लावला जातो तो दिवा म्हणजे मृत व्यक्तीचे प्रतिक आहे, आत्ता फोटो काढण्याची व्यवस्था आहे म्हणून गेलेल्या व्यक्तीचा फोटो लावला जातो पण पुरातन काळी फोटो काढायची सोय नव्हती म्हणून त्या आत्म्याचे प्रतीक , आत्मज्योत म्हणून पणती मधे ती ज्योत दहा दिवस तेवत ठेवतात कारण दहा दिवस आत्मा घराबाहेच्या अश्म्यावर असतो आणि दहा दिवसा नंतरच त्याचा पुढचा प्रवास सुरू होतो.
त्या दहा दिवसांत अनेक नातेवाईक , मित्र मैत्रीणी, परिवार भेटायला येतात, घरातील मंडळी रडत असतात, आलेली मंडळी गेलेल्या व्यक्ती बद्दल घरात चांगलं बोलतात बाहेर पडले की नको ते बोलतात हे सगळं तो आत्मा पहात असतो , ऐकत असतो.आपल्या बद्दल कोण खरंखोटं बोलतो, कोण खरंखोटं रडतो हे सगळं त्याला कळत आसतं त्यामुळे त्याला खुप दुःख होतं व रडायला येतं .
या दहा दिवसाच्या आत प्रेताची रक्षा व अस्थीचं विसर्जन वहात्या पाण्यात मातीच्या किंवा तांब्याच्या कलशातुन कलशासगट करावं .
दहाव्या दिवशी त्या अश्म्याला घेवुन घाटावर जातात तेथे अग्नी देणाऱ्याने क्षौर करावे म्हणजे दाढी मिशा व डोक्यावरील केस काढावेत , या घाटावर जो विधि केला जातो तो म्हणजे काय असतो ? या आत्म्याचा प्रवास कसा सुरु होतो व त्याचे पुढे काय होते ते उद्या पाहु

There is a superstition that a lamp is lit to show the dead person the way forward and the ashes or flour are spread under the lamp because on the flour or ashes under the lamp, it is widely believed that the person who passed away has his footsteps, but this belief is completely wrong. The process of not getting it is what we will see later.
Now the lamp that is lit is a symbol of the dead person, now it is possible to take a photo of a person who has passed away, but in ancient times there was no facility to take a photo, so as a symbol of that soul, the flame stays in Panati for ten days. The soul is on the outside of the house and its next journey begins only after ten days.
During those ten days, many relatives, friends, family come to visit, the congregation in the house is crying, the visiting congregation speaks well about the person who has left the house, whether he goes out or not, the soul sees and hears. Who speaks the truth about us, who is the truth He knows that he cries, so he is very sad and cries.
Within these ten days, the corpse should be protected and the bones should be immersed in running water through a clay or copper vessel.
On the tenth day, they take the ashes to the ghats where the fire-giver should shave to remove the beard and hair from the head. Tomorrow we will see how this soul's journey begins and what happens next
