Nagpur:
Best zero discharge plant award in 500 or lower Megawatt Category to Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station of MAHAGENCO. The awards in various categories in Water Optimization Competition organised by Mission Energy Foundation were declared on 3rd May 2019 at a conference held at Vivanta by Taj, Dwarka.
Majority of Power Plants from all over India including NTPC and Private Power plants participated in the competition. The competition was very stiff looking into the level of Optimization achieved by many plants, especially NTPC's Thermal Power Plants
However, the expeditious and significant efforts taken to utilize maximum water from Waregaon Ash Bund and significantly improving the Waregaon recovery and at the same time bringing down the trade effluents significantly for 30 years old plant was rightly awarded in a stiff competition. The award becomes highly outstanding because the entire water data was collected directly from Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and the individual competing plants were not entertained at all in any form for data collection.
Shri Rajesh Patil, Chief Engineer, Khaperkheda TPS, recognised the importance of MAHAGENCO Top Management in pursuing the water conservation efforts to be taken at Khaperkheda. He thanked all the Top Officials and Shri Chandrant Thotwe, Director (Operations) for overwhelming support extended from time to time in water optimization. He also credited the rigorous and timely efforts taken by all employees, sectional heads and middle management of Khaperkheda TPS to achieve Water Optimization at Khaperkheda with short term and long term planning.
